Along with this the college students who are enrolled under CBCS of RUSA have fetched good grades in their respective courses. Many of our commerce graduates have earned S and O++ grade. Most of our students in sciences and humanities have got O and A++ that corresponds to the grade point 8 and 7.5 respectively. Some of the results are yet to be declared by the University.

SPORTS AND GAMES

Sound mind in a sound body characterizes the essential spirit of a sportsperson. To ensure that the students enjoy health and vigor of life, the college takes all possible steps in facilitating their participation in games and sports. THE COLLEGE ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET

The college athletic meet was held from 22-23 February 2018 at Govt. P. G. College Seema. Principal Dr. Parmod Chauhan was the Chief Guest for the occasion that commenced, for the first time, with the lighting of the Sports Tourch. With gaiety and pride all the students of the college participated in the March Past and vowed to maintain their sportsmanship throughout the Meet. A large number of students participated in various track and field events which included Races, Jumps, Throws and Fun Games. Preeti from BA 2nd Sem was declared the best athlete amongst the girls and Raman from BA 2nd Sem was the best athlete amongst the boys.

YOUTH FESTIVAL

Youth Festival is a platform which provides students opportunities for integrated personality development. Our students have not only availed these opportunities through their participation in Group I, III and IV activities but have also come out with flying colours and brought laurels to the institution.

ACHIEVEMENTS IN YOUTH FESTIVAL
Group I

Miss. Kritika Thakur, B.Com 4th Semester bagged 3rd position in Photography competition in HPU Inter-college Youth Festival Group I (Creativity) held at Govt. College Nahan w.e.f.18-22nd September, 2017. Assistant Professor Bharat Khepan and Assistant Professor Prof. Sanjeev Kumar accompanied the group- I as team incharges.

Group II

The college team participated in ghazal, light music and folk orchestra events at HPU Inter-college Youth Festival Group II festival held at Govt. College Dharamshala for the first time in the history of the College.

Group III

The College Folk Dance Team bagged 3rd position in row for the third year in Group III event of HPU Youth Festival organized at GC Rampur, from 4th to 7th Oct. 2017 at Govt. College Hamirpur. The group was led by Prof. Harish Sanjta and Prof. Chanchal Thakur.

Group IV

The College sent a team of 20 students under the leadership of Dr. J.R. Kashyap for the Inter-College Youth Festival Group IV organized at GDC Dhaliara (Kangra). Our students participated in One Act Play, skit and mime. The performance our students was widely appreciated.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) was evolved and introduced by the Government of India in the year 1969. It aims at developing amongst students a sense of participation in nation building through Social Work. The College has presently two Govt. financed units of NSS with a sanctioned strength of 200 volunteers. Against this, a total of 303 students have enrolled as volunteers. The NSS units organized the following activities under the guidance and direction of Dr. Umesh Narta, Programme Officer, NSS Unit-I and Dr. Gopal Dutt Sharma, Programme Officer, NSS Unit-II during the year 2017-18.

Special Achievements:
  • National Integration Camp (NIC)National Integration Camp (NIC) formed the foremost activity among numerous activities organized by the NSS wing of the college from 6th to 12th October 2017. Students and program officers from around 16 states participated in the camp. It was sponsored by the State NSS Cell, Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of Himachal Pradesh in association with the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. The objective of the Camp was to integrate the volunteers, cultures, languages of different states of India and to provide an opportunity for the volunteers to live together, share ideas, opinions and participate in various activities viz; sports, cultural, educational and recreational etc. thereby fostering the spirit of national integration. It involved-
  • Opportunity for the NSS volunteers of our college to get a national level exposure and acquaint themselves with the culture, talent and experiences of the volunteers of the participating states as about 280 volunteers from 16 states of India including Himachal Pradesh participated in this Camp.
  • Activities as Prabhat Pheri, yoga & pranayam, drill, physical fitness sessions, Rangoli, Essay Writing, Poster Making, Panel Discussion, cultural exchange programmes were organized during the camp.
  • Exposure visit to nearby Bijouri village and a National Integration rally in Rohru and Hatkoti, with a view to spread the message of unity in diversity and exhibiting culture of different regions to the local community.
  • Workshop on Disaster Management Organized a 2 day workshop on Disaster Management in the College on 15th & 16 December, 2017. This workshop was sponsored by the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Regional Centre Chandigarh. In this workshop, the volunteers were trained in firefighting operations, first aid and self defence techniques and other necessary precautions to avoid disasters. 34 volunteers and the NSS Programme Officer attended this workshop.
  • Block Level Youth Parliament Nehru YUVA Kendra, Shimla in coordination with the College NSS Units organized a Block Level Neighborhood Youth Parliament in the College on 07.02.2018.The main objective of the event was to exhibit and exchange the views of youths in respect of various social and community development issues and ensure their participation both at the planning as well as at execution level of these programmes and activities. The participants were divided in to five groups and each group was assigned topics and asked to prepare charters entailing their views. The Five topics on which the youths deliberated were SKILL DEVELOPMENT, DRUG DE-ADDICTION, ENTERPRENEURSHIP, UNEMPLOYMENT, SPORTS PROMOTION. The Programme was organized on Discussion based group presentation, open house discussion and preparations of charters. This was supplemented by views of Resource Persons/experts on each topic. Dr. Umesh Narta, NSS Programme Officer, Unit-I Prof. B.S. Pirta, Associate Professor of Commerce, Prof. Chander Sen Chauhan, Associate Professor of Physical Education, Prof. C.S. Rangta and Prof. Ashwani Sharma, supplemented and complimented the group presentation as experts during the event. Dr. Parmod Chauhan, the Principal of the College and Mr. Prabhat Kumar, District Youth Coordinator, Shimla expressed their views on the importance of Youth Parliament. They also shared their views on the various topics and hailed the role of youths in nation building. The Charters on each of the topics were prepared and after finalization were submitted to NYK which will be later on shared with DC, Chief Minister and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India.
  • Participation in Pre RD &RD Parade

    Mr. Neeraj Sharma (B.A.6th Semester) attended Pre-RD Camp for 10 days at Rohtak (Haryana) from 28th November to 6th December, 2017; attended Republic Day (RD) Parade Camp at New Delhi from 1st January to 31st January, 2018. He was further shortlisted as a part of contingent to participate this year’s RD Parade-2018 at Rajpath New Delhi thereby brought laurels not only to the NSS unit & College but also to entire Himachal Pradesh and H.P. University.

  • Nomination of Reetika Negi to International Youth Exchange Programme

    The name of Miss Reetika Negi , a NSS volunteer of the College has been recommended by the State Government for the visit of Indian Youth Delegation to various Countries under the International Youth Exchange Programme of Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs &Sports, Govt. of India during the month of February, 2018.

  • Collection of funds for fire victims of Saawni village of Uttarakhand.

    In a devastating fire which broke out in Saawni village of Uttarkashi district of Uttrakhand on the night of 14th January, 2018, about 48 houses were gutted rendering more than 250 people homeless and hundreds of cattle dead. Our volunteers visited the fire affected village for a pre-camp survey on 18.02.2018 and to take stock of the situation and the kind of intervention immediately needed by the victims by enquiring the victims, inhabitants & representatives of PRIs. Accordingly an amount of Rs 28,512 was collected by NSS unit to this effect and remitted to the affected families through SDM Rohru. (A) Regular Activities of NSS:

  • I. Enrolment drive to get new volunteers was launched in the month of July, 2017.
  • II. Four one day camps for the campus beautification, cleanliness and for facilitating the organization of various events in the college and for environmental awareness and sanitation in the adopted villages.
  • III. National Deworming Day was celebrated on 27.04.2017.
  • IV. International Yoga Day was organized by NSS Units on 21.06.2017.
  • V. Awareness programme on Environmental Conservation and tree plantation in College
  • Botanical Garden was organized in collaboration with members of the Nature Club on 15-07-2017.
  • VI. A function under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) for the enrolment of students as voter and strengthen the democracy by greater participation of youths was organized by NSS on 25.07.2017 in association with Electoral Registration Office (SDM) Rohru. An overwhelming response & participation of NSS volunteers and students of the College was witnessed during the function in the College auditorium.
  • VII. NSS organized Swatchtta Pakhwara between 1st-15th August, 2017.
  • VIII.. NSS units organized Tree Plantation (Vanmahotsav) in association with State Forest Department on 19.08.2017. About 150 NSS Volunteers participated and 300 deodar plants were planted in the earmarked Utka Deora area under Seema–Rantari Gram Panchayat.
  • IX. Sadbhawana divas was observed and an oath was also administered to all college students and NSS volunteers on 19.08.2017.
  • X. The first phase of Pulse Polio immunization Abhiyan on 28.1.2018 and 29.01.2018. The second phase of the programme i.e. Pulse Polio immunisation Abhiyan was organized again on 1.03.2018
  • XI. Blood donation camp was organized by NSS units of the college on 16-03-2018. 51 units of the blood was collected during the programme.
  • XII. An Environmental education tour cum picnic was organized for NSS volunteers of the college to Giri Ganga a famous tourist spot near Jubbal on 17-03-2018.
Other Functions and Days organized
  • I.Independence Day was celebrated on 15.08.2017 with NCC and Rangers and Rovers units of the College.
  • II. The NSS Raising Day on 24th Sept, 2017 was observed under the National theme Swachhta hi Sewa (SHS) to promote handwashing and disease prevention by organizing a Rally and slogan writing competition. Cleanliness drive in the college campus was also oarganised.
  • III. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and Rashtriya Sanklp Diwas were organized on 31st October, 2017 and on this occasion the pledge on “Corruption Free India” was administered to the volunteers, students and staff of the college by the Principal. A declamation contest (Elocution) on the “Corruption Free India” in association with the State Bank of India, Rohru Branch was also organized on this occasion in which 10 speakers expressed their views on the menace of corruption and ways to combat it. In this contest, Miss Sonali Sensaith (Bsc 5th Sem), Geetika (BSc2nd) and Miss Rishita Ranta (B.A.5th Sem) bagged first, Second and third position respectively.
  • IV. Communal Harmony Week was observed by NSS units from 19-25th November, 2017 and on Flag Day on 24th November, 2017.
  • V. Constitution Day was celebrated on 26th November, 2017. On this occasion the Preamble of the Indian Constitution was read out and the students were made aware of the salient features of the Indian constitution. A Quiz on Indian Constitution was also organized to commemorate the occasion.
  • VI. A meditation,yoga and spiritual session was organized for NSS volunteers and Staff members by Sahaj Yoga Foundation.
  • VII. NSS Units organized the World AIDS Day on December 1, 2017.
  • VII. NSS organized the Block Level Declamation contest on “Nationalism and Patriotism” sponsored by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Shimla in the College on 2nd December, 2017 in which 11 students participated. Miss Diksha, Miss Sonali and Miss Geetika bagged first ,second and third position respectively from Rohru block and from Chirgaon block, Miss Divya was adjudged first and Mr. Chitranjan (B.A 3rd Sem) was second among the contestants. The winners of the block level contests viz; Miss Geetika (B.Sc4th), Sonali Sensate (B,Sc 6th) Divya Sharma(B.A.6th ), Chitranjan(B.A.4th ), Diksha Jagta (B.Sc.4th) were selected for the district level contest. Miss Geetika bagged third position in this contest at the district level held on 18.12.2017 at Shimla.
  • A. Participation of Volunteers in various Workshops, Camps and Events I) 16 NSS volunteers participated in Election Skit and SWEEP activities during State Level Rohru Fair, 2017 held from 20th to 22nd April, 2017 in Rohru.
  • II) 6 volunteers - Priya Chauhan, Minakshi Sambra, Ambika Chauhan, Pooja Khangta, Sumesh Dilwan and Manjeet Deriyan (all from PG classes), participated in four day residential Workshop on Life Skills at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development(RGNIYD),Regional Centre,Chandigarh from 21st to 24th April,2017.
  • III) 15 NSS volunteers participated in Yuva Jagriti Adhyatmik Seminar organized by Manav Uthan Sewa Samiti Samala (Rohru) 0n 02.07.2017.
  • IV) 11 volunteers - Neeraj Sharma (B.A.6th), Naveen (B,A,6th ), Divesh Deshta (B.A.6th), Shubham Datta (B.Sc.6th), Ajay Chauhan (B.A.4th), Sachin Sharma (B.A.4th), Rishita Ranta(B.A.6th), Priya Khangta (B.A.6th), Jagriti Pamta (B.A.6th), Sushma Kaith (B.Com 6th), Ritu Bragta (B.A.6th) attended a 5 day Workshop on Disaster Management at RGNIYD, Chandigarh from 10-14th July, 2017. Again 12 volunteers viz; Aryan Chauhan (B.Sc 2nd), Divyanshu (B.Sc 2nd), Nitish Sharma (B.Sc 2nd), Pushkar (BCA 2nd), Vijay (B.A.4th), Vipul Sharma (B.A 6th),Gitika Sambra (B.Sc 4th), Priyanka (B.Com 4th), Divya Sharma (B.A.6th), Sakshi (B.Sc 2nd), Preeti Santa (B.Com 2nd) and Bharti Chauhan (B.Sc 4th) participated in the second Workshop on Disaster Management at RGNIYD from 22nd to 24th Novemebr,2017.
  • V) Two volunteers - Divesh Deshta (B.A.5th Sem) and Reetika Negi (B.Sc 3nd Sem) were appointed as Campus Ambassadors under Systematic Voters’ Education in Electoral Process (SVEEP) by the Sub Divisional Office (Civil), Rohru and rendered their services to facilitate youth registration as voters and strengthen democracy by youth .Poster making and slogan writing contest on electoral process were also held under the SVEEP.
  • VI) 40 NSS volunteers participated in Voters awareness Rally organized by Election Commission at Rohru and Chirgaon town on 4th Novemebr, 2017.
  • VII) 32 NSS volunteers accompanied by Dr. Gopal Dutt Sharma, NSS Programme Officer unit-II participated in the World Soil Day Programme organized by the Chhohara Valley Apple Society in collaboration with the Horticulture Department & Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Sandasu (Chirgaon) on 5th December, 2017. On this occasion, the volunteers came across an exhibition of various apple species and chemical and organic fertilizers and immensely benefitted from the views of the experts relating to the cultivation and harvesting of agricultural and horticulture crops in the hilly region of the state.
  • VIII) 34 NSS volunteers along with One Programme Officer participated in two days Workshop on Disaster Management organized by RGNIYD in our College in coordination with NSS unit on 15th &16th December, 2017. Mr. Ghanshayam Dass Sharma, SDM Rohru inaugurated the workshop and Prof. Lokinder Thakur, Associate Professor (History), Centre for Excellence, Sanjouli was the Chief Guest on the closing of the Workshop. Activities such as firefighting operations, disaster management techniques, first aid, and self-defense with practical demonstration were carried out during the workshop.
  • IX)06 NSS Volunteers viz; Miss Pallvi Samta (B.Sc 6th Sem) and Vipul Sharma (B.A.6thSem), Sonali Sensate (B.Sc 6th Sem), Gitika Sambra (B.Sc 4th Sem), Chitranjan (B.Com 4th Sem) and Divya Sharma (B.A.6th Sem) participated in National Youth Festival held at Noida from 12-16th January, 2018.
  • X) 02 volunteers viz; Vipul Sharma (B.A.6th) and Nitesh Chauhan (B.A.4th Sem) attended One day National Seminar on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, organized by Govt College Chharouli (yamunanagar) Haryana on 30th January, 2018.
Special Camp

The seven days special camp of the NSS Units of the College was held w.e.f. 7th to 13th Feburary, 2018. The camp was inaugurated on 7th Feb, 2018 by Dr.Parmod Chauhan, Principal of the college, and Prof. B.S. Pirta, Dean of Students Welfare was the Chief Guest on the closing function of the camp on 13th January,2018. Mr. Jasvir Singh, a NSS volunteers from Jammu University (J&K), (one of the Indira Gandhi NSS Awardees 2016-17) attended the camp as Special Guest and was a great source of inspiration for the campers. The camp was organized in the adopted villages, viz. Seema, Bijouri and Masli. The theme of the special camp was “Youth for Change”. 100 volunteers including two volunteers from Govt. Sr. Secondary School Samoli took part in the camp. In addition to this, staff members and a dozen of old NSS volunteers also attended the camp from time to time during the seven days. The camp activities included: expansion and leveling of playground of Bal Ashram Masli, Swatchta, Polythene Hatao Abhiyaan, health , hygiene and environmental awareness activities through skits, Nukkad-nataks, slogans and posters in Masli, Seema and Bijouri villages and Campus cleanliness, beautification and development activities.

NATIONAL CADET CORPS

The National Cadet Corps is a very important organization of our armed forces which instills the spirit of discipline, confidence and patriotism in the students. The NCC unit of the College is touching new horizons under the youthful charge of Asstt. Prof. Virender Sharma.

Activities during the Academic Session 2017-18:
  • 10 days (SD) training Camp of NCC (CATC) was held at Rampur 11th June to 21st June 2017. In this camp NCC unit of our college stood 1st in Volley Ball ,1st in Debate,1st in 100m Race ,1st in 800m Race,1st in group Song , 1st in Relay Race , 2nd in Group Dance ,2nd in Quiz , 3rd in 800m Race.
  • 10 days (SW) training Camp of NCC (CATC) was held at Rampur 19th May to 29th May 2017. In this camp NCC unit of our college stood 1st in Group Dance, 1st in 100m Race, 2nd in Debate, 2nd in 100m Race, 2nd in Essay Writing 2nd in Firing.
  • 10 days NTC (National Trekking Camp) was held at w.e.f. August in which one senior cadet (Preety) of NCC 3HP (I) COY Rampur unit represented our college.
  • A 15 days AATC (Army Attachment Training Camp) was held at Solan (DAGSHAI) w. e. f. 25th September to 9th October 2017 in which 7 senior cadets (SUO Sachin Sharma, Pavinder, Gaurav, Karan Bansha, Pawan Dogra, Diwan, Omparkash) of NCC unit represented our College.
  • Under the banner of Swach Bharat Campaign NCC unit of our college participated in one day Cleanliness drive in August 2017 in which 25 cadets actively participated. A 10 days NTC (National Trekking Camp) was held at Ranikhet (UK) w.e.f. 27th September to 9th October in which 1 senior cadet (Pradyumn) of NCC 3 HP(I) COY Rampur unit represented our college.
  • A 10 days Pre RDC was held at Banikhet (Chamba) w.e.f. 3rd October to 10th October2017 in which 1 senior cadet (UO Ritika Negi) of NCC 3HP (I) COY Rampur unit represented our college.
  • All India Thal Sanik Camp is held at New Delhi every year. Our college has privilege to represent the H. P. State NCC wing consecutively Fourth time in 2017- 2018. Our NCC cadet Ms. Poonami got selected in four phased selection procedure and attended the camp w.e.f. Nov. 2017.
  • A 10 days BLC(Basic Leadership Camp) held at Punjab w.e.f. 1st Nov. to 10th Nov. 2017
DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES

In order to promote and practice research and innovation in the college various departments have undertaken the task of studying the areas of their interests. In compliance to the direction of the Principal the departments are keenly encouraging their students to get involved in conducting systematic research.

ICT Club
  • Information and communication Technology department of the college organized a mega function Innovation 2017 on 9th September 2017. The objective of this function was to update the students with latest IT skills and explore the hidden talent of students. The students of ICT participated in different activities like presentation speech, chart making and poster making and model creation etc. Renowned academician of HP University, Shimla Prof. P.K. Ahluwalia was key note speaker and chief guest for the day.
  • Organized the event of live telecast of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interactive session with students of the country on Feb. 16, 2018 “Pareeksha pe Charcha” regarding stress management during exam time. The college auditorium was filled to its capacity during the programme.
Red Ribbon Club
  • Efficiently and effectively provided the First Aid to the Students of the Boys and Girls Hostel respectively besides Day-scholars throughout the academic session and various sports activities. Organised Intracollege Poster and Slogan Writing Competition on 29th November 2017.
  • Three students namely Pallavi Samta, Reetika and Geetika attended WBFT WORKSHOP AT CH ROHRU. Observed “WORLD AIDS DAY” on 1st December 2017 in which AIDS AWARENESS RALLY /NUKAD Sensitisation was flagged off by State RUSA Director Dr. Krishan Vaidya in Rohru town besides various other activities.
Political Science and Public Administration Association (PSPAA)

The Political Science and Public Administration Association (PSPAA) is functional in the college since 2006 -07. During the session 2017-18, a General Assembly of the Association was held in the college on 27.07. 2017 and the general house unanimously elected Dr. Gopal Sharma as its President, Miss Anu Kumari, B.A.6th Semester as its Vice President, Mr. Chitranjan as Secretary and Miss Yashika as Joint Secretary. Prof. P.D.Jagithta and Prof. Varun Bandta were nominated as the members of the Advisory Committee of the Association.

  • Organized its 2nd Annual Youth Plenary on the theme of New India Manthan & 75 years of Quit India Movement on 30th August, 2017. As part of this celebration, a TIRINGA Rally was organized from Rohru to College which was flagged by the by SDM Rohru and received at College by the Principal. The occasion was marked by a variety of programme including paying of homage to freedom fighters & heroes of Quit India Movement, exhibition& documentary on Indian National Movement, Sangeet natika & Quiz on Quit India Movement, Penal Discussion & Skit on New India Manthan, Desh Bhakti Kavi Sammelan and cultural activities. The oath of New India was also administered to the staff and students of the college by Dr. Parmod Chauhan, the Chief Guest of the occasion.
  • The Constitutional Day was celebrated by college NSS unit on 26.11.2017. On this occasion, the Preamble of the Constitution was read out and explained to the students and a general quiz on Indian Constitution was also organized to commemorate the Day. The Human Rights Day on organized on 10th December,2017 with an overwhelming participation of the students and staff members in which the importance of Human Rights was discussed and deliberated.

Department of Hindi :Celebrated Hindi Divas on 14th Sept. 2017 and several competitions as essay writing, declamation were organized to promote use of the language among students.
Young Journalists and Photography Club: The club organized a seminar on 19th August 2017 under supervision of Prof. Chetan Chauhan. 20 students participated in paper presentation, power-point presentation and poster making. Prof. Virender, Prof. Harsh Bhardwaj and Prof. Bharat Singh were the judges of the event and 50 students were present among the audience.
Young Readers Club: The club organized a Poetry Recitation competition on 21st July 2017 under supervision of Prof. Harsh Bhardwaj. 18 students displayed their talent by reciting poems in English as well as Hindi. Prof. Varun, Prof. Sanjeev and Prof. Bharat Singh were the judges of the event and 55 students were present among the audience. Geographers Club: The club organized Geography day on the 9th Dec. 2017. It involved various oral and power-point presentations, quiz, and a brief colourful enactment of life of the Masai tribe of Africa. It was marked by the presence of number of teachers as well as students who enriched themselves in the domain of geography.
Commerce Club :The club organized a function on 29th July 2017 under supervision of Dr. Nitika Dhawan. Students participated in paper presentation, power-point presentation, naati, skit on GST, declamation, quiz and poster making.
Young Sociologists Association :The club organized Sociology day on the 9th Dec. 2017 on the theme “Westernization and Sanskritization.” It involved various oral and power-point presentations, dance, skit and songs. It was marked by the presence of number of teachers as well as students who enriched themselves in sociological arena of life.
English Literary Club: The club organized its function on 16th Dec 2017. It involved activities like oral and power-point presentations, quiz, dance and speeches on various themes. The central event of the program was a small comedy The Dear Departed that spilled hails of laughter upon the audience. There were many teachers of the college to encourage and appreciate performances of the students.
Young Thinkers and Vibrant Speakers Club: The club organized a declamation contest in which around 30 students participated and spoke on the topics of their choice. The event was presided by the principal Dr. Parmod Chauhan and coordinated by Prof. Ashwani Sharma. The judges of the event were Prof. PD Jagithta, Dr. Nitika Dhawan and Prof. Harsh Bhardwaj. Four students of the College, viz; Sonali Sainseth (B.Sc 6th), Diksha Jagta(B.Sc4th), Praduman(Bsc 4th) and Ayush Jangta (B.Sc4th ), under the guidance of Dr. Gopal Sharma participated in the North Zone Inter State Declamation Contest on the topic” Demonetization: Is it a failure or Success” organized by Govt. College for Girls, Jammu (J&K) on 26th March, 2018. Sonali Sainseth won the consolation prize for her performance.

FUTURE PLANS
  • Multipurpose Hall (Student Activity Complex) is to be constructed in the college campus with a cost of Rs 4,04,81,303/- for which foundation stone has already been laid down.
  • A Pavillion-cum-Store is to be constructed with a cost of Rs. 7000000/- in the college ground out of RUSA Fund.
  • College has received 40 lacs for the construction and expansion of the existing playground. Process for the acquisition of 56 Bigha Land for second phase of the college development is under progress.
  • Permission received from HPU to start PG classes in Commerce, Hindi Pub. Administration and Mathematics, action on which shall be furthered.
  • Establish a shooting range in the college.
  • Leaf analysis lab to be established.
  • Students’ Career and Guidance centre to be fully equipped.
  • To explore the possibility to open Regional Centre of H P University at the college. Plan to convert Auditorium into Theatre by installing Video Screen and Professional Projector. Plan to construct an additional hostel for girls.
  • Proposal for constructing type IV, III and II residences for staff.
  • Our actions, governed by right principles, brings positive results. I am sure that the seeds of success that we have sown in this field will definitely fetch us a good harvest. The day is not far, when this College will be matching upto the global standards in education. Last but not the least, I would like to thank the staff members and students of this college who have put in their heart and soul to make every event a memorable and fruitful one. SIGNIFICANT LANDMARKS
  • The process to construct Administrative cum Academic Block, estimated cost is rupees 7,23,19,000/-.
  • As many as 5o Categories of Special Prizes are instituted. All are sponsored by responsible and responsive individuals and organizations of the society to encourage and motivate the extraordinary achievers of the college.
  • Gen set with 25kw was installed during the session 2015-16.
  • 10 Smart Classrooms with electronic equipments that include electronic podium, interactive boards and pads, projectors, visualizers etc. were set up during this session.
  • Solar Water System was installed in the Boys’ Hostel.
  • Sick Rooms were established for Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels.
  • NewFurniture that was purchased in this session includes chairs for faculty rooms, book racks for faculty and the library, notice boards for hostels, beds and trolleys for sick rooms. Books and Journals/Magazines of different subjectswere purchased for the library. Wi-Fi and Bio metric were installed in the college.
  • 3 water purifiers were installed for the students and the staff of the college.
  • A Language Lab, Aptitude Lab and Career and Counseling Lab fordeveloping the communication skills, aptitude and career knowledge of the students was established during this session. Equipments such as one still camera, handy cam and one LED TV were purchased for the Journalism Lab.
  • CCTV and Bio Tab was installed in the college buildings.
  • Equipments for Music and Sports Dept. were purchased to facilitate practical work. Up gradation of fire safety mechanism of the college.
  • Extension and renovation of canteen is in progress under building and RUSSA grant Acquisition of land for second phase of college is in progress.
  • Rs 6 Lakh grantfrom the directorate was procured during this session.
  • Rs 50 Lakh RUSA grant was successfully procured by the college.
  • All the facilities or equipments procured during this session were purchased from the Rs 50 Lakh RUSA grant received from the dept. of higher education of HP Govt.
NAAC REACCREDITATION PROCESS
  • Second Round of NAAC Reaccreditation Process was started; LOI was timely submitted and it was followed by the submission of the Self Study Report to National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)Bangalore. The college expects the visit of NAAC team in the near future.
